Springtime in Jackson Hole
June 6-9, 2007
$895 per person

Quest for the Real West
Despite Jackson Hole’s reputation as a winter ski destination, there’s another season in Wyoming’s high country that’s second to none: Springtime. Thanks to guest photography instructor and Jackson Hole expert Glenn K.M. Chang, we’ve timed this destination photography workshop at the height of spring, when the land takes on a glow of green that only wild Wyoming can yield. Nestled among this raw beauty is the town of Jackson, where creaky boardwalks, rowdy saloons and curious cowboys keep the Old West alive and kicking.

ChangOur diverse itinerary takes us from mountains to meadows, rivers to lakes, as we capture micro and macro images ranging from snow-capped peaks to the demanding detail of emerging wildflowers. We’ll photograph the abundant wildlife that first brought Native Americans and rugged mountain men to this area, as well as historic prairie farmsteads that lend bold contrast to this well-preserved natural setting. During the Jackson Hole photography workshop you’ll have plenty of time for shooting and get professional critique of your results.

Here’s a glimpse of what else you can expect during Springtime in Jackson Hole:

Tempting Tetons: Few photographers can resist the enduring image of a mountain, and the Teton Range contains some of the nation’s most dramatic geological giants, enhanced by radiant wildflowers and old homesteads. You’ll explore the challenges and rewards of nature and architectural photography together.

© 2005 Mark Ferguson.Flora & Fauna: Spring entices flowers and plants of every color in the rainbow to sprout from the earth. Creatures of all kinds emerge and multiply. You’ll frame close-up photographs of petals dripping in dew or capture the inspiring movements of muskrats and beavers scampering around the slow-moving waters at Oxbow Bend. You may also see deer, elk, moose and bear in this area rich in wildlife.

Sunny Side Up: Learn how to manipulate changing light and shadow to photograph vivid sunrises and sunsets. Add to your portfolio a peaceful dusk photograph from the lush banks of the scenic Snake River, which swirls the length of Grand Teton National Park, or a panoramic sunrise as elusive clouds shroud Jackson Hole’s world-famous, jagged peaks.
